The Wendy, a 16‑story mixed‑use residential and retail development built for our partners at Greystar, has been honored with the 2026 ULI Washington Award for Excellence in Housing. Located in Arlington’s Clarendon–Courthouse neighborhood, the project delivers 231 residential units, 3,500 SF of retail space, a two‑level parking garage, and more than 15,000 SF of amenities including a pool, club room, fitness center, and outdoor lounge.

Designed by Cooper Carry, The Wendy features a distinctive architectural identity anchored by a custom glazed curtain wall. Our team worked collaboratively with the design team to construct a multi‑faceted angular curtainwall composed of four intersecting planes with varying geometries. The complex form required internal structural steel framing spanning three floors and approximately 60 feet in length, a defining element of the building’s exterior.

The development also includes generously sized three‑bedroom units, supporting a diverse range of residents and contributing to the project’s recognition in the housing category.

Reflecting on the collaboration, the Greystar team shared: “The Wendy was delivered in a timely manner and of very high quality by a highly skilled and knowledgeable John Moriarty & Associates construction team.”

Completed in 2024, The Wendy stands as a testament to the strength of partnership, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. Moriarty is proud to celebrate this recognition alongside Greystar, Cooper Carry, and the full design and project team.
