Our team joined Insight Property Group, Hord Coplan Macht, and Fairfax County leaders on May 6, 2026, to celebrate the groundbreaking of Eastgate Apartments, a major mixed‑use development set to reshape the heart of Annandale. The 426,000 SF, six‑story building will deliver 268 new residential units and 11,200 SF of ground‑floor retail, introducing modern housing, amenities, and activated public space to a site that has been envisioned for redevelopment for nearly two decades. The project is scheduled for completion in Q4 2027, with leasing expected to begin next summer.
Eastgate marks the first significant development in Annandale since the 1970s and is anticipated to catalyze additional investment and revitalization in the surrounding area. The project replaces a portion of the former Eastgate Shopping Center, including The Block food hall, and represents the first phase of a long‑term plan to transform the corridor into a vibrant mixed‑use town center. Residents will have access to a full suite of amenities, including a club room, fitness center, swimming pool, game room, and co‑working spaces. Retail leasing is underway, with future tenants expected to contribute to the community’s evolving character.
